BESO understands that educating children is costly. Many families in the archipelago, especially in the outlying islands, have difficulty providing uniforms and school supplies even for the mandated primary grades 1-6. They certainly can not afford to send their children to a high school, vocational school or college. The cost of transport, lodging, matriculation, uniforms, meals, paper, pencils, books, etc. would be far beyond their meager incomes. BESO believes that as a deeply rooted part of the Bocas community we have a responsibility to help these young people reach their highest educational potential. These children will one day be our future.
BESO wants to ensure that every student with a serious desire to continue their education and outstanding grades has the opportunity to do so whether it means providing a student with matriculation fees, arranging adequate lodging for the school year, transport or books and uniforms.
BESO provides funds to students on an individual request basis. To request a scholarship, the student must provide a copy of his/her most recent grades, a letter of recommendation from a teacher and a personal letter of recommendation from a community member. Requests are renewable if the student continues to supply proof of outstanding grades.
If you know of a student who truly wants to continue their education and has the ability to succeed but lacks the financial means, please contact us.
If, on the other hand, if you don't directly know a student who would qualify but want to be a sponsor, you can send a payment via paypal and earmark the funds for scholarship.
